Use Karuzip from the Windows 11 right-click menu

Updated August 13, 2026 · 7-minute guide · Windows 11 and 10 menu paths

Quick answer. On Windows 11, the Microsoft Store version can appear in the first right-click menu, while the direct installer keeps Karuzip under Show more options. On Windows 10, you use the classic menu directly.

The menu path matters because Windows 11 has two context-menu layers: the new streamlined menu and the classic menu behind Show more options. Karuzip supports both product routes, but they do not surface in the same place.

Find the Karuzip commands in File Explorer

First menu

WINDOWS 11 · STORE

Karuzip can appear immediately in the Windows 11 context menu. You do not need Show more options first.

Classic menu

WINDOWS 11 · DIRECT INSTALLER

Right-click the archive, then choose Show more options to reach the Karuzip commands.

Classic menu only

WINDOWS 10

The direct installer works through the normal classic File Explorer context menu.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUT

On Windows 11, hold Shift while right-clicking to open the classic menu directly.

Do not assume a missing first-menu entry means Karuzip is broken. Microsoft says not every older extension appears in the streamlined Windows 11 context menu. The direct installer intentionally uses the classic menu path.

Choose the right Karuzip command

CommandAvailable inWhat it does
Extract hereStore and direct installerWrites the archive contents into the current folder. Use it only when that folder is already the right destination.
Extract to "<folder name>"Store and direct installerCreates a subfolder named after the archive so loose files do not mix into the current folder.
Extract to…Microsoft StoreOpens a folder picker when you need a different destination.
View contentsStore and direct installer; one archiveOpens the archive in Karuzip without extracting it first.
Check integrityMicrosoft Store; one archiveChecks whether the archive can be read without writing extracted files. It does not repair the archive.

Some commands appear only when they make sense. View contents and Check integrity require a single archive selection, so they are hidden when multiple archives are selected together. The direct installer does not add the Store-only Extract to… or Check integrity commands to its classic menu entries.

Extract from the menu without opening the full app

  1. Right-click the archive in File Explorer. Use the first menu on Windows 11 Store builds, or Show more options for the direct installer on Windows 11.
  2. Choose the extraction action. Pick Extract here, Extract to "<folder name>", or the Store-only Extract to… command based on how isolated you want the output to be.
  3. Let the compact operation window finish. Karuzip uses a smaller operation window for menu actions other than View contents. It shows real progress and can reveal the destination when the task ends.
  4. Verify the extracted files. Open the expected output before deleting the original archive or moving the extracted files elsewhere.

Extract here can clutter a folder quickly. If you do not know the archive structure yet, start with Extract to "<folder name>" so the output stays contained inside a single new subfolder.

Store version vs direct installer

Microsoft Store version

Windows 11 only. Karuzip can appear in the first context menu, and the File Explorer integration can expose up to eight actions depending on what you selected.

Direct installer

Windows 10 and 11. On Windows 11, the commands stay in the classic menu behind Show more options. On Windows 10, you use the classic menu directly.

That split is intentional. Microsoft documents that Windows 11 first-menu commands use the newer File Explorer context-menu integration path. Karuzip uses that route in the Store build, while the direct installer keeps its classic menu commands for Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Karuzip appear in the Windows 11 right-click menu?

The Microsoft Store version can appear in the first Windows 11 context menu. The direct installer keeps its commands in the classic menu behind Show more options.

Can I open the classic menu directly in Windows 11?

Yes. In File Explorer on Windows 11, you can press Shift while right-clicking to open the classic context menu directly.

What is the difference between Extract here and Extract to "<folder name>"?

Extract here writes the archive contents into the current folder. Extract to "<folder name>" creates a subfolder named after the archive and places the extracted files inside it.

Why do some Karuzip commands disappear when I select multiple files?

View contents and Check integrity require a single archive selection, so they are hidden when multiple archives are selected at once.

Should I install both the Store and direct installer versions?

No. Choose the Microsoft Store version if you use Windows 11 and want first-menu integration. Choose the direct installer if you need Windows 10 support or prefer the classic menu path.
